The given line chart provides information about the adjustment in three different categories of crime: burglary, car theft and robbery in Newport city center over a ten-year period, starting from 2003.
In general, while the number of burglaries witnessed a sharp decline, corruption caused by car theft was the exact opposite.
In 2003, the contribution of burglary stood at approximately 3500, then it saw a slight increase of about 200 in 2004 before its dramatic drop to just over 1000 in 2008 which was followed by a marginal rise to roughly 1400 incidents in 2012.
The figure for car theft in the years 2003 and 2005 was around 2800 before its remarkable fall to 2000 in 2006 and grew gradually to nearly 3000 in 2012. Another interesting point was that the statistics of robbery, which was theft from the person, observed a fluctuation between 500 and 1000 over the recorded period.
