The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in Newport City centre from 2003-2012.
The chart information about the alternations in various criminal activities namely burglary, car theft and robbery in Newport city centre throughout the years from 2003 to 2012.
Overall, the number of criminal activities for car theft as well as robbery remained same at the end of the survey. On the other hand, the number of incidents regarding burglary in 2012 was far less than the year 2003.
In the year 2003, the highest number of criminal activities was recorded for burglary about 3400 and reached to its peak in the following year 2004 with approximately 3800 incidents. After that it sharply decreased to almost 1200 occurrence and remained in the second highest in 2008. Then it slightly increased and remained constant till the end although there were some little fluctuations.
With nearly 2700 occurrence, car theft was the second highest crime in the year 2003 and remained constant till 2005. It reached to approximately 2100 number of incidents in 2006 after a sharp decline and continued grow towards the highest position in 2012 with approximately 2700 incidents.
Robbery was the lowest occurred crime in the year 2003 with almost 600 occurrence and having some fluctuation, it remained in the same position with the same number till 2012.
