The bar chart given illustrates the proportion of five different degrees obtained by females and males in Australia in 1999.
Overall, it is evident that there were two degrees which were on the top of the list of female’s qualification. Meanwhile, the remaining qualifications (diploma, postgraduate diploma, and master degree), shared the biggest proportion of males holded-degree.
Generally, there was a significant difference between the qualifications held by both sexes in the reported year. males contributed to the major proportion of skilled vocational diploma (90%). However, in two categories (undergraduate and postgraduate diploma), males and females shared a similar proportion (70% each). Moreover, men and women had the lowest percentages on the undergraduate diploma and skilled vocational diploma, while the former was 10% the letter was 36%.
In addition, among the five post-school qualifications shown, men outnumber women almost in all degrees, except for bachelor degree, where women shared the larger number than men, 54% and 45% respectively.
