The bar chart illustrates the number of mobile phones sold worldwide by five manufacturers in the year 2009, 2011 and 2013.
Overall, Nokia sold the most mobile phones between 2009 and 2011. However, Samsung supplanted Nokia to become the best selling brand in 2013. Samsung and Apple saw the largest growth in sales over the 5-year period.
In 2009, the mobile phone sales of Nokia was almost 450 million units, nearly twice of Samsung. Over the next 4 years, Nokia's sales figures declined by 200 million, whereas that of Samsung witnessed a rise by a similar amount. By 2013, Samsung led the top ranked with approximately 450 million units.
The other three mobile phone brands were Apple, LG and ZTE. Starting from only 20 million devices sold in 2009, the mobile phone sales of Apple climbed up rapidly to 150 million in 2013, surpassing that of both LG and ZTE. Meanwhile, the figures for LG saw a considerable drop and for ZTE rose only a bit.
