Overall, it is clear that the prices changed over the period surveyed. Particularly, house prices in Tokyo and Madrid were lower than that in 1989; whereas London’s house prices experienced the most significant changes.
During the first 6 years, house cost in London and Tokyo witnessed a dramatic drop of nearly 7%; while New York’s house prices just reduced by 5%. However, house prices in Frankfurt increased slightly to around 2%, followed by a rise of approximately 1.5% of house cost in Madrid.
Between 1996 and 2002, London house prices peaked to around 12% above the 1989 average. Homebuyers in New York had to pay significantly more, which prices rising to 5% above the 1898 average; however, house cost in Tokyo saw a slight decrease of around 2%. The cost of a house in Madrid rose a little further to nearly 5% and Frankfurt house prices remained so through the end.
