The bar chart illustrates the information of number of trips that children at the age of 5 to 12 in a country in 1990 and 2010 travel to and from school as a car passenger, walker, cycler, bus taker or taking bus and walking.
Overall, the majority of children in 1990 and in 2010 went to or from school by being a car passenger or walking. Even though the number of trips as a car passenger increase significantly, there is an obvious decrease for all other modes in comparison between 1990 and 2010.
In 1990, most of the children were walking to school, for more than 12 millions. Being a car passenger, about 4.5 millions of children, is the lowest types during this period. However, there is no significant difference between those who cycling, taking bus or taking bus and walking. The number of trips for these methods are in between 5 to 7 millions.
In 2010, the number of trips for children as a car passenger reached a peak at approximately 11 millions. This is a strong rising rate compare between 1990 and 2010. However, the trips made by those who walking dropped remarkably, for about 6.5 millions. There is also a falling rate for the numbers of trips taken by those who cycling, walking and taking bus, or taking bus.
