The graph below illustrates the whether people owned house or living on tenant during time span of almost a century in England and Whales taken in percentage.
Although highest rented places observed in 1918 of about 78% and lowest in the end of century 2001. On the other hand owned accommodation percentage showed acclivity during this time frame and reached at vertex by start of century about 70%. Though with comparison smaller than tenant housing peak by 8%. However, In 1971 both percentages were at the same level of 50%. Until that time percentages had been successively decreasing for rented while increasing for owing accommodation.
After the 1971 a reversed trend observed where ownership of places increased and rented accommodation showed declivity started from 1981. In comparison which 1918 rented accommodations plummeted by 45% and owned places soar up to 50% in the end of century.
In summary, first glance at graph show that overall with each successive year ownership of houses increased while tenant places decreased.
