The share of households living in owned accommodation reached its peak in 2001 at just under 70 percent, while that of households which had rented their accommodation peaked in 1918 at around 75 percent. The lowest percentage of owned houses was in 1918 with taking slightly more than 20 percent. On the other hand, households whose accommodation had been rented recorded the lowest percentage of slightly more than 30 percent. In 1971, the families who owned their accomodation showed the same percentage with those who live in rented accommodation at 50 percentage. Although until the year of 2011, there were a steady increase and a decrease in the proportion of owned dwellings and rented dwellings respectively, in 2011, there was a contrasting change in this trend, with a drop by around 5 percent in owned accommodation and a rise by around 5 percent in rented accommodation.
