The bar chart provides information on the proportion of households owning and renting accommodation in two different region from 1918 to 2011.
It can be seen from the graph that the percentage of households in owned was around 22% in 1918, but there was a free fold growth in terms of rental accommodation during the same year. Between 1935 and 1953, the proportion of household in owned facility was 31%, as opposed to 68% by rented house. But in 1961, the figures showed approximately a twenty percent growth from 41% to 59% respectively. Interestingly, by 1971, the percentage of households in both owned and rented were noticed exactly similar at one half.
In contrast, the household rate had experienced some significant change. In 1981, the considerable number of people holds in their own house at exactly two third, while merely 40% of people had lived in rental house. At the same time, a 65% of people holds in owned accommodation, whereas a half of them chose rental house in 2011. But the year between 1991and 2001, exactly the similar proportion of English men and women had used both owned and rental house facilities.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of own house usage experienced an increasing trend, whereas the figures for rental category showed some decline throughout the given period.
