Between 1918 and 1971, the proportion of households renting accommodation experienced a huge decline by over a quarter. From 1971 to 2011, households renting accommodation's percentage continued its fall from the previous period, while households owning accommodation's percentage considerably grew from 50% to nearly 65%. There also was a large gap between households in owned and rented accommodation, in which households in owned accommodation exceeded households in rented accommodation by about 20% in 2011.
