The graph displays the percentage of owned and rented houses in the UK compare to Wales from 1918 to 2011. While there are some similarities between the two types, there are also a lot of differences in the trends during the period.
Both of the percentage of households remain stable from 1939 to 1953, and equals one another in 1971, at 50%. Then, while the figures of households in rented accommodation have a tendency to go down during the period, from 78% in 1918 to 31% in 2001, that in owned accommodation increase gradually over the years, from 23% up to 69% between 1918 and 2011. However, there is a slight change in trends of the households in 2011. The percentage of owned houses decreases slightly, down to 65%, while that of rented houses increase a little to 35%.
Overall, there are similarities and differences in the percentage of households owning and renting accommodation between the UK and Wales from 1918 to 2011. The trend of owning houses tend to rise while that of rented houses fall significantly over the years.
