The chart illustrates the percentage of people( men, women, and children) who consumed five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.

The chart illustrates the percentage of people( men, women, and children) who consumed five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.

Overall, it is evident from the chart that the percentage of women who ate the fruit and vegetable items was highest while the percentage of children eating the food items was lowest. Furthermore, a graph shows a significant rise in the proportion of people eating these food items in the given period.

The percentage of women who ate fruits and vegetables started at just about 21% in 2001. Then it rose gradually and reached a peak of about 35% in 2006 before falling slightly to 30% in 2008.

In terms of men and children, the proportion of people who used the food items remained steady for the first three consecutive years( about 17% and 12% respectively). From this point, the percentage of men grew and reached a peak of about 28% in both 2006 and 2007 and then dipped slightly to about 27% in 2008. For the children, a similar climb was visible reaching about 26% in 2007 and then dropped slightly to about 25% in 2008.
