The bar chart given illustrates the number of British emigrants shifting their permanent living places to five different countries between 2004 and 2007.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that most British people tended to migrate to Australia throughout the surveyed period. In addition, all countries witnessed downward trends, except for Australia.
The countries which allowed the majority of British were Australia and Spain, with the former beginning at just over 40,000 in 2004, dipping slightly in 2005, before a surge to over 50.000 in 2006, and a fall back to roughly 45,000 in 2007. The latter started around 34,000 in 2004 before decreasing steadily under 30,000 in 2007, despite a slight rise in 2005.
The remaining countries generally stayed under 30,000 British emigrants. The figure for New Zealand experienced a decline over time period, falling from approximately 23,000 to 20,000 in 2007. In terms of USA, a number of British migrating decreased from 23,000 to roughly 20,000 twice, the first time between 2004 and 2005 and another was from 2006 to 2007. Finally, the figure for France after climbing up to around 33,000 in 2005, it then fell significantly to 18,000, which was the lowest point for all nations.
