The bar chart gives information about the proportion of men and women in teaching in six types of educational institutions in the UK in the year 2010.
Overall, it is obvious that women were more likely to hold the vital role of teaching children. On the other hand, men predominated in the higher status teaching role of university lecturer.
In two of six grades, primary and pre-school, females (around 90%) much further outnumbered males ( under 10%) as teachers. On the contrary, male and female teachers were equally represented in college, with about 50%.
About 53% of female teachers was seen in the secondary school, in comparison to
approximately 45% of their male counterparts. The opposite was true for the men in private training institute, which was roughly 8% higher than the figure for women. Regarding to the university, the percentage of distribution of men in the university was much higher than that of their female counterparts, with 70% and 30% respectively.
