The charts below show information regarding USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult Americans in two of the years.
In both 1970 and 1980 there was 2.5 million recorded marriages which showed a constant trend but in 1990 it started to decrease to merely 2.25 million moreover the downward trend continued in year 200 with 2 million recorded marriages. There was unsteady trend for the number of divorces.
In 1970 and 200 there was 1 million recorded divorces while in 1980 it was the year that recorded the highest with almost 1.5 million divorces.
There was 60% and 70% recorded married american adults for year 1970 and 2000 respectively. The lowest percentage of marital status in 1970 was those who got divorced with merely 2%, while in 2000 the lowest was those got widowed with approximately 5%.
