The two pie charts from the year 2000 illustrate data about population age in Yemen and Italy, and there are two charts giving a projection for 2050.
There are three age groups presented, and both countries saw a decline in the younger population, whereas the over-60-year age group has a tendency to rise.
Looking at the details, in 2000, it can be seen that just over half of the population of Yemen were aged 0-14, compared with only 14.3% in Italy. 15-59 year olds in Yemen also took up 46.3% of the whole population, whereas the older age group only accounted for a small proportion, at 3.6 percent. If we look at Italy, however, there were some differences, as the majority of the population here was aged 15-59, taking up over six-tenths. Meanwhile, the figure for people over 60 years old was under one-fourth, at 24.1%.
Looking ahead to 2050, the Yemen population is predicted to undergo some significant changes, as 15-59 year olds will be now the major part of the population, accounting for 57.3 percent. The number of young children is expected to significantly, while the possible figure for older people would be at 5.7%. Italy, on the other hand, will alter dramatically in terms of population age too. People who are aged under 60 will reduce in number, while the number of older of people is projected to increase and reach 42.3 percent
