Given are the charts depicting the average proportions of three types of nutrients, including sodium, saturated fat and added sugar, in 4 typical American meals which may become detrimental to health if these substances are consumed excessively.
From an overall perspective, dinner and lunch constituted the most amount of sodium and saturated fat eaten in the human body while it is noticeable that snacks accounted for the overwhelming percentage of added sugar consumed.
As is visible in the illustration of sodium, dinner took the highest figure in consuming this nutrient with 43%, followed by lunch with 29%, and coming in last positions were breakfast and snacks with an equal rate of 14%.
As far as saturated fat is concerned, relative to sodium, the most amount was consumed in dinner and lunch with 37% for the former and 26% for the latter. Snacks accounted for 31% of the provision of saturated fat, which was 5% higher than breakfast.
Remarkably, the data witnessed that snacks stood at the peak of consuming added sugar with 42%, nearly double than the figure of dinner, and much more than lunch and breakfast with 19% and 16% respectively.
