The following charts illustrate how mush sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar in terms of percentage the American people consume in their daily meals.
As can be clearly observed from the charts, while nearly equal percentage of sodium and added sugar are consumed in dinner and snacks, 43% and 42%, respectively, saturated fat is the smallest proportion in breakfast with 16%. Virtually as mush sodium as added sugar are eaten be American people in their breakfast 14 % versus 16%.
In addition, despite the fact that the share of saturated fat in dinner of USA population is 37%, they eat far less amount of added sugar, precisely 23%, in the same meal. Meanwhile, the percentage of sodium in lunch by 29% is far more than the share of added sugar by 19%.
It is clear from the charts that unlike breakfast which has the lowest percentage of all three unhealthy nutrients, 14% of sodium, 16% of both saturated fat and added sugar, sodium and saturated fat have the highest amount in diner.
