The charts below show the comparison of time spent, in minutes per day, by UK’s males and females on household and leisure activities in 2008. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The table provides information about how many minutes men and women spent on entertainment, while the bar chart compares the average daily time, in minutes, spent by males and females and household chores in 2008.
Overall, men spent their time watching TV, video listening radio, and engaging in sports more than women, whereas the time spent on reading among females was higher than their partner. In addition, females tend to dedicate more minutes to doing housework, while males showed a higher average minutes on repairing
Looking at the table in more detail, both genders preferred watching TV, videos, and listening to the radio, with men dedicating around 137 minutes daily, about 20 minutes more than women. Additionally, males also participate more in sports, with 15 minutes, compared to females, only 11 minutes. In terms of reading, women showed a higher time spent, in minutes per day, than men, with 19 minutes of the former and 18 minutes of the latter.
Regarding household activities, there was a significant difference between the time spent in minutes each day on cooking and washing by males and females, with the former standing first with nearly 80%, twofold to that of the latter. The disparity between the two figures was almost the same in clothes washing and ironing. Women spent the majority of their time cooking and washing dishes, averaging 30 minutes daily, more than twice the time men spent. Additionally, females spent around 35 minutes per day shopping, in comparison with only 25 minutes spent by males. Lastly, men spent just under 20 minutes on repairs, double the time women allocated to this task.
