The table illustrates how men and women spent their spare time to entertain every day. At the same time, the bar chart compares the mean minutes that two genders spent to do household activities in 2008.
Overall, males spent more time on leisure activities than females, particularly watching TV and participating in sport. Meanwhile, women do more household chores than men, especially cooking and washing are the activities spent the most time.
Looking at the table in more detail, men spent 137 minutes to watch TV, video and listen to radio, while their counterparts spent only 118 to do these activities. In addition, engaging sport in free time was also popular with men, with 15 minutes being spent for this activity. In comparison, it took females 11 minutes to take part in sport. Reading is an activity that women enjoy more than men, with 19 minutes being spent by women and 18 minutes being spent by men.
Regarding the bar chart, there is a majority of time female spending on cooking and washing, around 67 minutes, twofold to the time spent of their partners for this activity. Furthermore, most of their time was spent on housework such as shopping, clothes washing and ironing, with 27 and 25 minutes, respectively. Meanwhile, men spent less time than their partners do these activities, with only 22 minutes being spent on shopping and 10 minutes being spent on clothes washing and ironing. Repair was only activity men spent more time than their counterparts, with 19 minutes, twofold to the time spent of females for this activity.
