The charts below show the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information.

The bar chart compares how many international travelers paid a visit to Japan over the 10-year period since 1985 and the line graph illustrates the percentage of Australian citizens going to Japan from 1985 to1994. Overall, there was an increasing variation in both the number of foreign tourists to Japan and the proportion of Australian visiting Japan. In addition, the greatest gap can be seen between 1994 and 1995 for the bar chart and between 1985 and 1986 for the line graph.
In 1985, just under 5 million tourist set their foot in Japan. This number increased gradually to about 11 million in 1990, which was more than twice that of 1985. After fluctuating slightly over the period of 4 years from 1990, the number of foreign visitors rose steadily and ended with more than 15 million in the last year.
Additionally, exactly 2% of japan's tourists was from Australia, which was the lowest figure during the given period. In the following years, Japan witnessed an increasing variation in the proportion of Australian travellers, hitting a peak at more than 6% in the year 1993 before decreasing slightly to 6% in the next year.
