The charts below show reasons for travel and the main issues for the travelling public in the US in 2009.
The two charts give information about public tourism in American in the year 2009. The bar chart compares figures for travel reasons and the pie chart shows data about travel problems they met.
In general, it is evident that the principal cause why travel of US citizen in 2009 was to commute to and from work and what they care about most is the cost of the trips they have made.
In term of the bar chart, the data on commuting was the highest with 49%. By contrast, only 6% of trips were visitors to friends or relatives, one in ten trips were for social or recreation, 16% trips were for shopping and the remaining 19% belong to the trips of personal reasons.
With regard to the pie chart, the percentage of prices of travel was the highest at 36%. Almost one in five people cited safety as their foremost travel concern, aggressive drivers and highway congestion were the main issues for 17% and 14% of the travelling public.
