The charts bleow give information about the electricity generation in two countries in 2009
The pie charts given below compare the sources for the production of electricity in France and Germany in the year 2009.
Overall, it is clear from the data that the significant amount of electric energy came from Nuclear power in France, while conventional thermal accounted for more than 50$ energy production in Germany. It is also evident that Germany produced more electricity than France in the given year, 560 billion KWh and 510 Billion KWh respectively.
As the graph shows, 59.6% of German electricity was produced from conventional thermal energies whereas it accounted for only 10.3% in France. In terms of nuclear energy used for power generation was 76% in France and only 23% in Germany.
However, the use of Renewable energy sources in Germany and France accounted for only 17.4% and 13.7% respectively. Germany used 39.3% Biomass, 36.9% wind power, 17.7% Hydroelectric power and 6.1% solar power. By contrast, Hydroelectric accounted for 80% among all other renewable energy sources in France. The total proportion of Biomass, Wind and Solar was 19.5%. None of the countries generated electricity form Geothermal energy.
