Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the 19th century. The map below shows the development of the village.

The map illustrates that expansion of Chorleywood village because of rapid population growth between 1868 and 1994.
As it presented, during the four periods of development, transport infrastructure was improved and its cause so considerable changes.
From 1868 to 1883, Chorleywood was a small rural area near the LONDON that besides of main roads and the other community facilities like park and golf grounds took place in the central point of the village. The railway line was constructed from west to east in 1909.Then in the second planned enlargement, the rail station completed too.
According to the given map, at the end of this time, 1922 to 1970, the alongside motorway built in the east of the village and the area near the station developed. In the latest expansion from 1970 to 1994, further development of Chorleywood took place around the motorway intersection with the railway and one of the main roads.
