Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the 19th century. The map below shows the development of the village.
The map shows the growth of population that Chorleywood experienced over a period of 128 years between 1868 and 1994. Village is located near London.
Overall, it can be seen that as more transport infrastructure was improved as more village grew, it is also worth to note that residential areas were built only near main road, motorway and railway.
Between 868 and 1883 Chorleywood was a small village and situated on the east side of the main road. Then for the next 39 years village grew down to the south alongside main road and a stretch of railway was built running across south part of the village from west to east. Chorleywood station was constructed in that part.
From 1922 to 1970, Chorleywood expanded alongside the railway from west to east. In 1970, a motorway was built on the east side, which run directly from north to south. Then for the following 24 years Chorleywood experienced dramatic change, when new part of the village grew next to the main road, motorway and railway. Nowadays, Chorleywood Park and Golf Course is located between motorway and main road.
