The diagram below shows the changes which took place in a coastal area called Portland from 1950 to 2007.
Displayed in the diagram is the improvement of Portland, which is located in a coastal area during the period from 1950 to 2007.
Overall, on the south of the city, there was more significant difference than that on the north of Portland whereas the main road was extended over the period given.
With regard to the bottom of the coastal town, It was covered by grassland in 1950, but some buildings altered them in 2007. Particularly, a cinema was constructed on the corner of the south-west, which was opposite of two ranges of houses in the south-east of Portland. Rows of shops were built two sides of the main road and in front of both cinema and houses.
Next to grassland, there was an industrial area on the west of Portland and car park on the east of this town, just as the sea was located in the top of the coastal town. In 2007, park, swimming pool and multi-storey car park replaced the industrial area whereas apartments were constructed on the other side of the sea. Finally, the road around the sea established at the end of the period linked with the main road.
