The diagram illustrates the transformation of a public library’s floor plan over 20 years.
Overall, the library has experienced substantial changes to create a space for events and self service facillities. In additon, the library now has an open space in the centre.
Twenty years ago, upon entering the central area, to the left lay a reading room, including newspaper and magazines, but now it has been replaced by a computer room. To the right there is a requiry desk where customers could buy tickets, return books; however, it now being changed into a cafe. Meanwhile aldult fiction books has been moved to the right making way for all reference books on the left. To the right there is a small information desk that is equipped with 3 self service machines, overtaking place by aldult non fiction books. The table in the centre of the library has been completely removed.
The back setion of the library has also seen significantly alterations, with the room in the left hand corner that consist of CDs, videos, computer games, being alternatived by house fiction books for childern and 2 sofas, and it also server as a space for strorytelling event. Finally, there is a lecture room in the back right hand cornor where children’s books used to be.
