The below diagram depicts the production stages in making leather products.
Overall, there are seven stages in the process, beginning with drying of animal skin and ending with these leathers being converted into different products.
At the first stage, the animal skin is being dried under the sun as it is an essential material of leather goods. Then it is transported to the factory by a truck. After reaching the factory, the skin is washed by the two-basic liquid (water and lime) and subsequently it is soaked by a chemical, called lime.
Having been soaked, the skin is being flattened in a roller and soaked with tannin which is a mixture of water and vegetable matter. After tanning, the skin converts into leather. It is then polished before it is sent to the factory to be assemble into goods like bags, socks, wallets, and basketballs with a help from the machinery.
