The diagram shows how rainwater is collected for the use of drinking water in an Australian town.
The picture given below shows how a town from Australia used the technique of Rainwater harvesting for drinking purpose.
Overall, the process consists of 3 main steps.
1)filtration 2)Storage 3)Water treatment.
In the initial phase ,rain water from all the houses is transferred to a Water Filter through drainage. This is the first step of the process. In this phase water is passed through this filter and the filtered water goes ahead for further processing.
Secondly, filtered rain water is stored in a large storage tank which is connected from one side to the water filter and on the other side by water purification plant via pipes.
In the final phase, the stored water through the pipes goes from storage tank to the water treatment plant. It is the most important step in this process. Here, water is purified and further treated with certain chemicals which removes remaining impurities from the water making it potable. After which the potable water is transferred to individual houses via network of pipelines. Hence, completing the process.
