The diagrams below show the changes that have taken place at Queen Mary Hospital since its construction in 1960.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The maps demonstrate how Queen Mary hospital changed after some developments during a 40-year period starting from 1960.
It can be seen from the maps that apart from the hospital which remained unchanged, the area was completely transformed after the constructions of several facilities to provide medical care and service for general public.
In 1960, the hospital was built near the main road and to the west to a shopping centre. People used the area behind the hospital to construct a car park for those going to the hospital and the section behind the shopping centre was kept for a farmland.
In the next 20 years, the farmland was replaced by a nursing school and the shopping mall was flattened, giving places to erect two additional buildings which were a cancer centre and a pharmacy. By the year 2000, the cancer area was extended and occupied the entire area of the nursing school so people divide the area for parking into two parts for a new small nursing school.
