The diagrams below show the development of the village of Kelsbey between 1780 and 2000.
The three maps illustrate the changes of the Kelsey village over a period of 220 years ( 1780-2000)
Overall, the village experienced considerable development during the period shown. The most noticeable differences between the three maps are the appearance of wetland for birds and the expansion of village in the year 2000.
As can be seen, the village was extended sharply from 1780 to 1860. By contrast, a massive amount of wood in the south of the village was cut down in the year 1860. A bridge was built across the river while the farms were shortened their size during this period. Also, a long road was constructed in the north of the farms in 1860.
Turning to the other features, we can see that farms and woods were demolished in the year 2000. However, in the same year, lots of new infrastructures such as school, sports field, shops, wetland for birds were constructed surrounding the village. Similarly, the builders added a bridge located parallelly the older across the river and they constructed a new road in the middle of Kelsey village to connect to different constructions in this area. Finally, the village continued to develop the size from 200 homes in 1860 to 500 homes in 2000.
