Overall, Chinese cuisine is the most popular takeaway cuisine, followed by Indian and Italian. The lowest are Mexican, Japanese and Greek. The population of Indian restaurants increased dramatically in the period of 1960 to 2009 and fluctuated from there to 2015.

Within a few years, it grew considerably and reached its peak in 2009 with over 9000 restaurants operating. Then it fluctuated around 9000 units from 2009 to 2015.
