Overall, Chinese cuisine is the most popular takeaway cuisine, followed by Indian and Italian. The lowest are Mexican, Japanese and Greek. The population of Indian restaurants increased dramatically in the period of 1960 to 2009 and fluctuated from there to 2015.
Chinese takeaways have the highest percentage, about one third of the pie chart, Indian the second with 26%. 11% of people who have never order, higher than Italian 10% and Persian 9%. Mexican, Japanese and Greek are 1% each and also are the least seen in takeaways. Since 1960, Indian cuisine has grown in Canada with about 400 restaurants. Within a few years, it grew considerably and reached its peak in 2009 with over 9000 restaurants operating. Then it fluctuated around 9000 units from 2009 to 2015.
