Essay topics:

The first chart below shows the results of a survey which sampled a cross-section of 100,000 people asking if they traveled abroad and why they traveled for the period 1994-98.
The second chart shows their destinations over the same period.

The given information shows reasons why people in UK went overseas and their destinations between 1994 and 1998. Overall, there was an increasing number of UK travellers over the period and holiday is a primary purpose for travelling. In addition, Western Europe was an ideal place for most of them.

It can be seen from the table that more and more people in UK travelled overseas during the given period and the most enormous figure of UK inhabitants toured for holiday, at around 15,200 and 20,700 in 1994 and 1998 respectively. However, fewer than 4000 residents in UK went to foreign countries for business and visiting to friends and relatives. Besides, there was a small quantity of people travelling due to other reasons.

Similarly, in the bar chart, the number of UK visitors experienced an upward trend from 1994 to 1998 in all three destinations. It is evident that Western Europe was the most favorite region of which an average number of people during the period was 21,000. By contrast, North America and other areas seemed to be the less preferred locations, around 1500 and 2200 during five years.
