Essay topics:

The following chart shows the results of a British survey taken in 2009 related to Housing preferences of UK people.

The chart illustrates figures for British’s housing choices to 4 categories of types in 3 cities (Liverpool, London, Manchester) in 2009.

Overall, it is clear that the majority of people living in Liverpool preferred to live in apartments, while semi-detached houses became the most housing choice of the two other cities. However, all 3 cities had the lowest percentage of people who chose to live in terraced houses.

Looking at the information in more detail, we can see that about 38% of the surveyed people in Liverpool expressed a strong preference for living in apartments, followed by London and Manchester (29% and 19% respectively). By contrast, terraced houses were chosen by only 9% of people living in London and 11% people living in Manchester, which were roughly doubled when it comes to Liverpool.

Semi-detached houses were the most popular housing preferences for surveyed people in London and Manchester (approximately 37%), while around 18% of people in London preferred to live in the same type. Furthermore, the proportion of people choosing detached houses in Manchester was the highest (35%), compared to London and Liverpool.
