The graph and table below give information about water use worldwild and water consumption in two different countries.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart compares the amount of water used worldwide for three different uses over a period of 100 years. And the table shows the population, the area of irrigated land and the water consumed individually in Brazil and Congo in the year 2000.
We can see that water in agriculture was the most between 1900 and 2000. In the second chart, it is clear that the water consumption of a Brazilian was far more than that of a person in Congo.
Over the 100-year period, the figures for three global water use increased a lot. In 1900, 500 kilotons of water was used in agriculture, while the other two uses only consumed a negligible amount of water. By 2000, the figure for agriculture had increased to 3000 kilotons. The total amount of water in industrial use and domestic use were 1100 kilotons and 300 kilotons respectively in 2000.
In the table, the population of Brazil was 176 million, which was far larger than Congo's population, which was only 5.2 million. And the area of irrigated land in Brazil was 26500 kilo square meters, while only 100 kilo square meters of land were irrigated in Congo. As for the water consumption by one person in 2000, each Brazilian could use 359 cube meters of water on average, whereas the equivalent figure for people in Congo was only eight.
