The line graph illustrates the birth rates of China and the USA and how these rates changed from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, during the period, the birth rates in both nations decreased. However, the rate in China was lower than that in the USA in most of the years although they had a similar trend of general decline.
The number of the fertility rate in China varied significantly from 10% to 15% between 1920 and 1935 despite of its trend of increasing. However, this rate dived sharply in the following decade and reached the number of 5%. Then there was a dramatic soar in the fertility rate in China from 1945 and it finished at the highest point of the whole line graph, 20% in 1950. After reaching that peak, this rate declined steadily during the period of 50 years from 1950 with the final number was 2% in 2000.
Over the same period, the USA also saw considerable fluctuations in the fertility. From above 10% in 1920, the number of birth rate increased to 13% in 1935 before plunging suddenly below 5% in 1945. However, there was a quick surge during a half of the following decade which soared to 15%. Between 1950 and 2000, this rate decreased gradually and finished approximately at 7% in 2000.
