The provided graph shows contrast between the amount of energy prduction and consumption from 1950 to 2000, as well as the prediction of 2025. Energy is callibrated in units where 1 unit is equal to 1 quadrillion of British thermal units.
Overall, the trend of energy production is lower than consumption during all the years mentioned above. Moreover, US imported energy to fulfil their desired consumption.
It is interesting to notice, In 1950 the production and consumption of energy was same which was marginally about 25. The amount of energy production and consumption gradually risen upto about 60 and 65 respectively.
In addition to this, since the amount of energy consumption is more than the energy produced, therfore, after 1975 US started using the imported energy. Till 2000 the difference between prduced and consumed energy bradened, and it is predicted that future as well the difference will further broden till 2025 for produced energy and consumed energy(about 85 and around 135 respectively).
