The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of enery in the USA since 1980 with the projection until 2030. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisions where relevant.
The line graph illustrates the data of energy consumption reported in the United State from 1980 to 2008 and the predictable period to 2030.
Overall, uses of petrol, coal, and natural gas have increased significantly while there are few changes in consumption of nuclear power, solar/wind energy, and hydropower.
Regarding the picture, in the 1980s, petrol and oil took up the largest with 35 quadrillion units, which is over double that coal, 16 quadrillion units. At the same time, the number of units of natural gas was 20 quadrillions, and one-fifth belonged to nuclear power, wind/solar energy, and hydropower.
In 1995, petrol and oil were still the largest ones after fluctuating time and kept increasing until 2008, then it will continuously rise dramatically to reach 50 quadrillion units in 2030. The changes of natural gas were the same as petrol, but it will remain plateau from 2015 to 2030 for 23 quadrillions, while we witnessed the stably increase of coal expenditure, which will be double than the beginning, 32 quadrillion units.
However, the consumption of nuclear power and solar/wind energy will have been rising but it still takes a small amount to 7 and 6 quadrillion units respectively. The one that will drop after several times of fluctuating is hydropower, which will consume 3 quadrillion units in the end.
