Overall, the average CO2 emissions per person in the UK and Sweden had a tendency to drop over the period while it is recorded to increase significantly for the rest two countries.
A first glance at the first two countries which are the UK and Sweden, the UK had its starting point at around 11 metric tonnes which was the highest throughout the four decades. However, this figure was on the decline to 10 metric tonnes in 1987 and gradually dropped to nearly 9 metric tonnes in 2007. Somewhat similarly, in 1967, Sweden gave its beginning point in terms of average CO2 emission at roughly 8 metric tonnes. Then, this data spiked suddenly to over 10 metric tonnes and fell dramatically to under 6 metric tonnes by 2007.
Conversely/Turning to Italy and Portugal, Italy’s average CO2 emission showed a gradual growth, starting at just above 4 metric tonnes and ending at almost 8 metric tonnes. For Portugal, its figure of CO2 emission was recorded to begin at just under 2 metric tonnes and witnessed a constant soar to around 5 metric tonnes at the end of the period.
