The graph below shows the average monthly change in the prices of three metals during 2014. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart compares the percentage of change in prices of copper, nickel and zinc in the year 2014.
It is clear that the trend for all three metals was relatively similar. A significant fall can be seen in the first six months and the prices increased again in the end of the year.
In the January of 2014, average monthly change in prices of copper, nickel and zinc were +2%, +6% and +1% respectively. While copper price change dropped steadily in the following five months to -0.5% in Jane, the figure for nickel decreased dramatically in the first three months and remained relatively stable in the next two months before falling considerably to -3%. In the contrast, the trend for zinc was the rise in February and a gradual decrease in the next five months.
In the following six months of 2014, the same changes happened for all three metals. The average monthly change was remained unchanged from July to September before a slight fall can be seen in October, and finally rose again in the end of the year. These figures for copper and zinc were +1.5% and +2.0% respectively, while nickel increased from -1.0% in October to +1.0% in December.
