The graph below shows the changes in food consumption by Chinese people between 1985 and 2010.
The graph represents the amount of three different types of foods, namely; meat, salt and fish, consumed in China from 1985 to 2010.
Overall, the fish consumption was popular throughout the period given. It is interesting to note that, both fish and meat consumption increased while salt consumption decreased substantially.
From 1985 to 1995, the consumption for fish remained at 600 grams even though there was a periodic fluctuation. Meat was the lowest consumption in China of 100 grams in 1985 before it stably increased to 200 grams (nearly) by 1995, whereas salt experienced a declining trend from 500 grams in 1985 to around 350 grams in 1995.
The amount of consumption for fish continued to rise remarkably to reach at close to 900 grams in 2010, whilst the salt decreased continuously with its consumption to end at 200 grams which figure is the same as meat's consumed amount in 2010.
