The line graph illustrate the amount of three kinds of spread( Butter, margarine and low fat and reduced spread) which was consumed over 26 years form 1981 to 2007. Units are measured in grams.
Overall, the consumption of butter and margarine decreased over the period of time.While, Low fat and reduced spread,it rose. At the start of the period, Butter was the most popular spread, which was replace by margarine from the year 1991 to 2000, and following that low fat and reduced spread become the most widely used spread in the final years.
With regards to the amount of butter used, it begains at around 140 grams in the first stage and peaked up to 160 grams in 1986 before falling dramatically at around 40 grams in the end of the period.However, 90 grams of margarine was used in the year 1981 after which the figure fluctuated slightly and dropped to a low of 40 grams in 2007.
On the other hand, low fat and reduced spread started using in 1996 which was about 10 grams. After eleven years the consumption of Low fat and reduced spread increased up to 20 grams in final years respectively.
