The graph below shows the contribution of three sectors-agriculture, manufacturing ,and business and financial services -to the UK economy in the twentieth century.
The bar graph illustrates the endowment under three categories ( agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services) to the British economy for 200 years, starting in 1900.
Overall, agriculture had the highest contribution to the economy of Britain for the past 50 years but dramatically declined in the succeeding period, while business and financial services had a gradual growth, whereas manufacturing sector significantly went down.
Initially, almost half of the contribution was on agriculture and slightly rose in 1950 to just over a half, which marked as the highest percentage under the given sectors throughout the period. However, the figure suddenly dropped to approximately 10 % in 1975 and hitting its lowest point to a tiny fraction in the end year, 2000.
In terms of manufacturing, the recorded data started nearly 45% and continued to fall slowly until 1975 with just above 40% as opposed to business and financial services from around 3% and climbed gradually and reached roughly a quarter until 1975. In the end year, 2000, business and financial services outraced the two categories with data approximately 35%.
