The graph below shows the different modes of transport used to travel to and from work in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.

You should write at least 150 words.

The chart gives information about four means of transport which the residents of a European city utilized to go to and from their workplaces in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of people using a car accounts for the highest figure of 4 vehicles. Also, it is notable that the percentage of people driving increase dramatically, while others witnessed a fall during the period of 40 years.
To begin with, in 1960, the proportion of city dwellers choosing bus as their main mean of transport was nearly three times as much as that for car, with 20% for the former and 7% for the latter. During a period of 20 years, more people tended to use private cars as the data experienced a sharp increase to 25% and eventually reached a peak at about 37% in 2000. On the contrary, after rising to 27% in 1980, the statistic for bus users suddenly went down to 18% in the final 20 years.
In 1960, more people used bikes or walked to work than other means, with 27 % and 35% respectively. However, there was a significant decline in both kinds of transport in the following 40 years, which ended up the data with 7% and 10 % in 2000.
