The line graph compares four nations in terms of the proportion of import from Australia between 1990 and 2012.
It is clear that Australian export to China saw the most significant increase during the period shown. Additionally, while the percentages of export to Japan and US dropped, the figures for China and India rose.
In 1990, just over 25% was the proportion of Australian export to Japan, this figure was nearly 15% higher than that of US. At the same time, the percentages of China and India were substantially lower, at around 2%. From 2005 to 2010, China witnessed a dramatic rise in the proportion of import from Australia, and this figure overtook that of Japan to become the highest percentage in this period.
In 2010, the proportion of Australian export to China rapidly reached its highest point at nearly 30%. Similarly, after reaching its peak at roughly 8%, the figure for India slightly felt to 6%. By contrast, Japan and US saw substantial decreases in the proportions of import from Australia to about 18% and 7% respectively.
