The given line graph gives information about the increase in population of three counties - Washington, Columbia and Yamhill in the U.S. state of Oregon, between 1940 and 2000.
Overall, Washington had the largest population of all three counties, while Columbia had the lowest number of citizens but followed almost the same pattern as Yamhill.
Starting in 1940, the population of Washington stood at exactly 75,000 and then saw a considerable increase to well above 120,000 in 1970. However, a rise in the following thirty years was even sharper and reached a peak at just above 240,000 in 2000.
On the other hand, Columbia and Yamhill followed quite similar pattern during the given time frame. The number of inhabitants in Yamhill reached around 30,000 in 1940, exceeding the population of Columbia, which had approximately 27,000 in the same year. Then the figure of both counties gradually increased and followed the same upward trend, which ended in 2000 at almost 90,000 for Yamhill and well above 75,000 for Columbia.
