The graph illustrates the proportion of old ages from 1940 to 2040 in three different countries, namely the USA, Sweden, and Japan.
In the first glance, it is noticeable that Japan has a significant change, Japanese old age had the lowest proportion in 1940, which was only 5%. Not to mention, it had dipped of 2% in an approximately 50-year period, however, it has started to increase steadily and in a sudden Japan will become the highest proportion in the future, which will be 22%.
Sweden, on the other hand, has shown an obvious fluctuation, it had increased from 7% in 1940 to 14% in 1980. It had dipped and risen constantly in this aforesaid period. In addition, it is the highest among others at the moment, but in the future, elderly people in Sweden will drop to the second highest which will have 25%. Old age in the USA which is only around 15% at this time, will rapidly rise from 14% in 2020 to 23% in 2040.
To sum up, it is evident that even though people aged 65 and over in the USA will increase still it will drop to the least population.
