The linear representation reveals the amount of commodities shiped in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by road, water, rail and pipeline. Units are caliborated in million tonnes.
It is evident from the line graph that the highest quantity of goods were moved by roads. At initial stage it was 70 and significantly increased througout the period and reached just below 100. After that, material shipped by water transportation shows remarkable growth after 1978 and remained constant till 1998 then increased and stood at 65 in the year 2002.
On the other hand, pipeline had the least amount of material carried. It started with 5 in 1974and inclined in next 28 years then arrived at above 20. However, rail medium started with 40 and went down moderately then stood at above 40.
Overall, it is crystal clear from the graph that all modes of transport shows upward trend.
