The line graph compares the amounts of money (millions US dollars) people spent on books in four different countries from 1995 to 2005.

Overall, the amount of money buying books which increased in countries: Germany, France, Italy and Austria over the 10 year- period. In comparison with other countries, Germany is the only country with a noticeably higher number for spending money buying books.

The amount of paying for books in Germany was exactly 80 in 1955 before there was a slight growth to 90 in the next 4 years. However, over the period of next four years, Germany witnessed a decline, at approximately 85 in 2003. During the remainder of the period, it peaked at closely 100 in 2005. French saw a more stable increase than Germany in the amount of money spent on buying books, the figure changed from generally 55 in 1995 to around 60 in 2005.

The money for buying books in Italy didn't vary more significantly than both of the countries above. Around 55 was the figure of this country from 1999 to 2005 with the highest was 60 in the year 2005. Whereas Austria was starting lower than the rest of the countries at 30, it increased continually to 70 by the end of this period to surpass the money being spent on books in Italy.
